It Is Finished
“Eloi Eloi Lama Sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mathew 27:46
This, Jesus cried out as he felt the full force of our sins, the agony of such a cruel death and sense of abandonment on the cross. I find, it’s so easy to read the words repeatedly about this part, the most vital part, of Jesus’ story and become desensitised to what happened. However, to see an image like this, that’s graphic and raw, projects the message in a much more powerful way.
So, when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing his head, He gave up his spirit. John 19:30
